The Chicago Underground Film Festival, the longest running underground film festival in the world, is an internationally recognized program providing a venue for documentary, experimental and avant-garde narrative film and video. The festival’s mission is to select and screen film, video and related works presenting a diverse line up of moving image programming focusing on filmmakers working to reinvent and explore new approaches to established practices, to foster new forms of media art and to build an audience for such work.
2018 Istanbul International Experimental Film Festival is the first showcase of avant-garde and experimental cinema in Turkey. It is led by a group of artists who aim to change the landscape of cinema in Istanbul through filmmaking and networking. We hope to create a platform that allows artists and filmmakers to produce and showcase works for aesthetic and philosophical purposes rather than for profit.
Four media artists take on the mysteries of neurobiology and mental landscape through layered gestures and the use of handmade, found, re-appropriated and collected imagery.

The 15th edition of AVANT: Doing Haut and Pope. Loophole Cinema and More is a revisit to the British collective Loophole Cinema and their film actions from the 90s. In addition, three separate film programs by Karel Doing, Bea Haut and Greg Pope are being shown including some other films by former members of Loophole Cinema.

For this special screening at La lumière collective, Wheeler Winston Dixon will be presenting a selection of his films from 1970 to the present, concentrating on his more recent work in HD video. The filmmaker will be present to discuss his films with Clint Enns, who will introduce with filmmaker, and conduct a Q&A session after the screening.
