Under the Counter Culture explores and celebrates all aspects of night culture and the counter cultural and non-normative activities that it inspires.
Night Culture has long been at the forefront of avant-garde arts practice and the aesthetic and atmosphere of club culture has informed and inspired creative activity, individual and collective action where inhibitions and expectations are deconstructed, revealing a platform for free expression, experimentation, participation and play.
This is a call for Film and Video Works to be shown as part of a screening programme at the 51zero Arts festival in Rochester and Canterbury in October and November 2019. We are looking for works that respond to the theme Wishful Images: works that envisage, address and/or document ways of being and acting together, that propose ways out of the present moment.
