IWFF revisited delves into the Festival's archive. A selection of films from the 1970-1980s reveals the premises behind the founding of the Festival. In its early years the Festival was marked by formative convictions and ideas. What types were they? What was to be shown? Why? And who was supposed to see it all?

This edition of (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico is called The Secret Garden, a title that traces back to the spring we were forced to spend indoors and that the festival wishes to bring back by making plants and flowers bloom on the screens of viewers. The poster of the festival, which will be held from September 27 to October 3, is a tribute to that celebration of spring –a lavish collage of plants, petals, and flowers.
Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival is delighted to announce the main programme for its sixteenth edition, taking place from Thursday 17 September to Sunday 11 October 2020. Online access to the Festival in the UK will be through Festival Passes and professional accreditation will be available worldwide.
The Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant is an annual grant that will be awarded to self-identified lesbians for making visionary moving-image art. Work can be experimental animation, experimental documentary, experimental narrative, cross-genre, or solely experimental. Applicants must be based in the U.S. This grant was established by Hammer in 2017 to give needed support to moving-image art made by lesbians.
As part of its 2020 Curator-in-Residence Programme, the MExIndex is inviting submissions for this year’s showing of visual art films made by artists working in Ireland or whose work relates to Irish culture and society.
