Johnny Welch, filmmaker and photographer from Sydney, Australia lives in Berlin for more than 3 years and is an active member of Labor Berlin. Since coming to Berlin, his work has become more strongly connected with the aesthetic of analog film, with the possibilities of optical printing. Even if edited and projected digitally, analog compositing seems to allow him to create a richer image of high density and depth.

The Spectral Film Festival believes deeply in the capacity of filmmaking to embody individual and collective voices. Innate to its character, this festival seeks to celebrate unconventional forms of expression through experimental, avant-garde, and underground works. We are looking for short-form cinematic pieces that permeate the boundaries of texture, intimacy, and hybridity; those that are unnerving, immersive, expository, and are as daring as they ask their viewer to be in redefining what is accepted as fact.
A weekend-long, non-stop marathon on the occasion of the “Day of the Dead”; meetings and clashes, screenings and reactions, sounds and visions: dozens of international films’ and Italian premieres, a distillation of the most interesting contemporary experimentations. Also: seminars, focuses, Space itineraries – in various shapes and formats, from night 'till day and from day 'till night. Spazio Menomale, dug towards the centre of the earth, turns into an art gallery and a perpetual theater where you can sink, a perception room in which there is no time to find, filled with routes and crossroads that become – as always in Nomadica’s experience – the artwork itself, unique, displaced and displacing, irregular and not (always) screened-off. Underground chaos where “the everlasting shape of life” resides.

Tinne Zenner is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Copenhagen. She holds an MFA from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Working with analogue film and digital animation, her work explores the physical structures, in which layers of history, politics and collective memory are embedded. With a point of departure in modern and global landscape, the films utilise cultural narratives, abstract information and analogue materiality in an ongoing portrayal of the world in circular transformation.

Experimental Film Society (EFS) is a group of filmmakers dedicated to the creation of uncompromisingly personal, formally challenging filmmaking. Based in Dublin, it operates as a company for the production, archiving and promotion of films by associated artists and filmmakers. Its founder/director is filmmaker Rouzbeh Rashidi. It has succeeded in forging a new and radically alternative Irish cinema. Its defiantly independent vision, both deeply informed by film history and utterly modern, has animated over five hundred shorts and features over its eighteen-year existence.
