  • Wonderland - A Xiaolu Guo Double Bill

    By on

Inspired by Walter Benjamin’s essay on art and mechanical reproduction, the latest documentary feature by novelist and filmmaker Xiaolu Guo takes us to a village near Shenzhen, in southern China, where a cottage industry produces made-to-order copies of Western masterpieces. Exploring the contemporary nature of images and the interconnections between people from different worlds, the film intercuts the life of a Chinese painter copying Caravaggio’s John in the Wilderness (c. 1604) and the life of the Swiss-Italian poet in London who commissioned it.

    By on

On the occasion of the release of the collaborative experimental film of Metavilla videomaton, Les Colonnes invite the time of a night to an artistic meeting questioning the current digital practices. In 2018, the city of Blanquefort appealed to the Metavilla studio to imagine an innovative project that could educate young and old about digital practices and cultures. From this partnership is born the video metavilla, a video booth, which the Blanquefortais massively used for a whole year to become actors and participate in the creative adventure of a collaborative film.

  • Another eXperiment by Women Film Fest Screenings

    By on

    This is our 10th SEASON!
AXWFF is looking for experimental shorts made by WOMEN that present their own vision of movie making — we want to see something different and unique — challenge us to rethink what “experimental” means on your terms, outside of any standard form. By “film” we refer to a moving image, made with any media, that presents a transformative action or thought. Work that that has been shot by the artist and is under 20 minutes, has a better chance of being accepted as we have limited screening time.
