Videoex – International Experimental Film & Video Festival23rd Edition2 – 10 October 2021Zurich, Switzerland Videoex is Switzerland's largest festival dedicated to experimental film and video. Over the course of ten days, Videoex shows films and videos beyond conventional narrative cinema: experimental, visually surprising, conceptually unexpected or controversially political films and videos on the threshold between visual art and film.
Highlights of the 23rd edition are the 16mm films of renowned artist Tacita Dean, works by Thai artist Korakrit Arunanondchai and a focus on Aura Satz.
As Swiss Focus Videoex presents artist Max Philipp Schmid from Basel as well as the films of Jeannette Muñoz and the latest work by artist duo Maria Iorio & Raphaël Cuomo.
In the guest program Spain, a selection from the history and present of Spanish film can be discovered. Works by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí will be showed, as well as the mystical films of José Val del Omar, the magnum opus of José Antonio Sistiaga and the hypnotic masterpiece of Iván Zulueta.
While the Swiss and International Competitions provide a view of experimental filmmaking, the Live Acts will provide an audiovisual and immersive live cinema experiences. Furthermore, discussions and workshops for children and adults complement the program.
