Videoex – International Experimental Film & Video Festival
2 – 10 October 2021
Videoex is Switzerland's largest festival dedicated to experimental film and video. Over the course of nine days, Videoex shows films and videos beyond conventional narrative cinema: experimental, visually surprising, conceptually unexpected or controversially political films and videos on the threshold between visual art and film.
The theatrical search for happiness or the dreamy video diaries of Swiss artists Max Phillipe Schmid and Jeannette Muñoz mark some of the Highlights of this year’s festival. Further, works by international artists will be shown, such as: Tacita Dean, who creates poetry from celluloid, Aura Satz with portraits of pioneers of technology, and Korakrit Arunanondchai, who tells stories of spirituality and culture. In the guest program Spain, diverse works from the history and present of Spanish film can be discovered. With films by Segundo de Chomón, José Val del Omar, José Antonio Sistiaga, Iván Zulueta or a live performance by the collective Laboratorio de Electrónica Visual, L.E.V..
The core of the festival remains the International and the Swiss Competition, which offers filmmakers a unique and well-deserved platform. The program is complemented by Expanded Cinema Live Acts, discussions and workshops.
