The old man's back again! We are pleased to announce two evenings a week apart to discover the world of Akira Hoshino and his friends at Hairo.
The screenings will be held in Parma in the theater room of Borgo Santa Brigida 5/a from 8.30pm to 10.15pm, 100 meters from Piazza Garibaldi.
The first evening "Soul Play" will be dedicated entirely to the works of Akira Hoshino, a central figure in the Japanese underground and among the first to introduce the concept of the so-called "Kojin-eiga" or "personal film".
In the seventies he founded the independent screening club Hairo, which is still active today in its headquarters at the historic APIA40 venue in Tokyo.
"Soul film fragments" are regularly projected there, giving any filmmaker and amateur the opportunity to express themselves without limits of any kind, outside of any standard and in the format they prefer.
In more than 50 years of activity, Hoshino-san has acted as a master and meeting point between several generations of young independent artists, creating an amalgam of the most radical and poetic visions of the underground scene.
We have selected a handful of filmmakers and some of their soul pieces, which will be screened in the second evening called "Frammenti".
No pre-established rules, no limits to the eye, a whirlwind of images, film-tales and Animations accompanied by the sound-works of Chinatsu Yokomizo and other musicians.
A collaboration between two spaces that are geographically distant but akin in the aim to bringing these out of sight visions to anyone interested or intrigued by alternative and personal ways of making a film.
We would like to thank all the members of Hairo for making this event possible.
All works will be projected digitally.
The ticket price for each evening is €8.
There is the possibility to pay at the entrance or to reserve a place in advance via
