"Process" Experimental Film Festival 2017

Process is the first experimental film festival in the Baltics dedicated to experimental, analog filmmaking. Taking place on the 22nd to 25th of March in Riga, Latvia, the festival will provide a four day intensive programme, consisting of film screenings, talks, discussions, lectures and live expanded cinema performances. 

During the festival the following film programs will be presented: Essay Film, Found Footage, Structural Film, and Baltic Films; these will introduce different forms of experimental analog cinema and works by exciting contemporary authors. 

Analog film will be widely represented in the programs and shown in its original 16mm and Super 8mm format. Meanwhile, in the audiovisual performance programme “Process Expanded”, there will be the chance to experience live expanded cinema, where film is being carried out as a live audiovisual performance. Various local and international artists will perform their cinematic works using multiple analog film projections, utilizing various other analog audio techniques: Björn Speidel (DE), Karel Doing (NL/UK), Greg Pope (UK/NO), Xavier Quérel (FR), OJOBOCA  (Anja Dornieden, Juan David González Monroy, DE), Justas Žekonis and Vytautas Juozėnas (LT), Ieva Balode (LV), Signe Birkova (LV), Mārtiņš Ratniks (LV)

The festival will take place in the Kino Bize movie theatre, with film screenings, lectures and discussions, as well as at Ģertrūdes Street Theatre , Kaņepes Cultural Centre and RIXC gallery, with live expanded cinema programme "Process Expanded", which will present the works of national and international artists.
