An exhibition of new work made in Hanoi by the artist duo Andrea Orejarena (b. 1994, Colombia) and Caleb Stein (b.1994, UK), Long Time No See (2018-2020), is currently on view at Vincom Center for Contemporary Art in Hanoi until February 23rd, 2020.

The exhibition is a fragmented collection of visions that explore the memory of the Vietnam-America War. Orejarena and Stein bring together photographs, works on paper, and videos made in collaboration with Vietnamese veterans and younger generations affected by chemical weapons used by the U.S. during the war. The veterans co-directed the videos while the younger generation added personal marks to the photographs and contributed personal works on paper. ‘Long Time No See’ embraces a more democratic way of examining history and making art that challenges the traditional barriers between ‘subject’ and ‘author’.

The work is on view as a part of ‘TOẢ 3’, the largest contemporary art annual exhibition in Vietnam which brings together notable works by emerging artists from Vietnam and abroad and is co-curated by Mizuki Endo and Đỗ Tường Linh.
