Expanding Film is a new grouping of filmmakers and artists working with the moving image based in York. We welcome work which is personal, radical, DIY, expanded, performance-based, mixed media, unfinished and, above all, experimental.
Another Experiment by Women Film Festival (AXW for short) is looking for experimental shorts made by WOMEN (& some men) that present their own vision of movie making — we want to see something different and unique — challenge us to rethink what “experimental” means on your terms, outside of any standard form, for screenings in 2018.
Delete TV is looking for wild and eye-bending art and experimental films for the upcoming season. The program opens a window to the world of art and offers strong, wild and uncensored works from upcoming artists and film-makers. Delete TV highlights contemporary issues in a global context, highly educational and deeply focused on intercultural exchange and visibility.
In January 2018, CHITCHAT will take a program of films from Colorado through Texas to Mexico. The tour starts in Colorado and travels through Texas and Mexico. Cities/Regions include Denver, Austin, San Antonio, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Oaxaca and Monterrey.

It offers every year a new international programme made of works by internationally renowned artists and filmmakers, along with works by young artists shown for the first time.
The call for entries for the next Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin is open until September 10th, 2017.

Perhaps the most referenced statement on politics in cinema is Jean-Luc Godard’s notion that the ideal is not to make political films, but to make films politically. Godard proclaimed this at a turning point in his career – when he turned to alternative forms of cinema, alternative forms of authorship, alternative aesthetics. The consequences of such a shift in thought and action have continued relevance and demand further investigation. Is alternative film and video the preferred foundation for a political cinema to flourish?
The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is now inviting submissions to its 64th edition, which will take place in Oberhausen from 3 to 8 May, 2018. The Festival organises five competitions: International, German, films from North Rhine-Westphalia, International Children’s and Youth Films and the MuVi Award for the best German music video. A total of almost 42,000 Euros will be awarded in prize money.
