  • Florida Experimental Film and Video Festival 2013

    By on

The Florida Experimental Film and Video Festival is now accepting entries for the 2013 competitve festival.

    What is experimental?

FLEX doesn't want to know in advance what experimental means. We're interested in work that challenges generic designations (including the traditional "avant-garde" or "underground" ones). Work may also draw on documentary, narrative, animation, or any other tradition-- or no tradition at all. So, what is experimental? We're hoping to be surprised by your answer.

    Entry criteria

Productions completed since the deadline of the last competitive FLEX festival (October 1, 2011) are eligible. Films or videos made for commercial or industrial purposes are not eligible. All entries in a language other than English must be subtitled or dubbed in English unless dialogue is inessential to comprehension and appreciation. Maximum running time is 30 minutes.

Regular deadline: September 15, 2012 (postmarked)
Late deadline: October 15, 2012 (postmarked)

    October 31st - November 3rd
    Deadline: August 1st, 2012
    Regulations - Entry form

The Bienal de la Imagen en Movimiento (BIM), is a place entirely dedicated to the field of audiovisual experimentation.  An appropriate environment for the exhibition of works, a space to think about the specific aesthetic matters of art on video and film.

Its main goal is to promote the development and circulation of audiovisual arts. To that end, a singular program of video and film works it’s presented, along a space for discussion enriched by distinguished artists and researchers that propose, both to specialists and the general public, a framework of exchange that improves the experience of the encounter with the work of art.

The BIM emerges as an initiative of the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero (UNTREF), this fact defines its identity founded on solid thinking and critical attitude. The deliberation framework that constitute the encounters with international artists, conferences, round-table meetings and workshops, it’s what makes the BIM so much more than just a well-nourished program of video and film works.

The call is open to single channel works, in both video and film, of author profile, that stand away from the rules established by the entertainment industry, and that are the result of authentic innovative and aesthetic and conceptual searches.
