Unruly Archives is a program composed of emerging filmmakers whose works interrogate colonialism, cultural erasure, and historical and political truths that have been erased from the "traditional" filmic archive. Each of the works have some relation to the archive, both in the physical and political acts of documentation, be it in use of analog format or incorporation of source material-family photos, home videos, found footage. Unruly Archives hopes to pose questions of decolonial thinking in terms of the film “canon" itself and the archives function in this dynamic.

Curated by Liv Soussan and Devon Narine-Singh.

Unruly Archives is hosted by The Film-Makers’ Cooperative, an artist run film distribution collective founded in 1961 by filmmakers such as Jonas Mekas, Shirley Clarke, Stan Brakhage among others.

OccupyIceNYC, NYC Anti-Racist Action and NYC shut it down will be present with literature about ways to get involved in abolishing ICE & all other forms of police brutality.
