Sticky Pixels Stuart Pound & Rosemary Norman Riverside Gallery, Watermans Art Centre 6 Sep – 17 Oct
Film, television, your own earlier work, the internet or the computer itself, can be starting points for making digital video. And all five can be seen in the work in Sticky Pixels. In "Value": boolean , Stuart tests face recognition software on himself, in ORWO he scratches the surface off a scrap of old film. Run version vertical has more familiar stars, and the image in Song Lines depends on the loudness of the sound.
Stuart Pound has made experimental film since the early 1970’s and was a member of the London Film-makers’ Co-op. He’s worked in digital video since 1995, and about the same time began his collaboration with poet Rosemary Norman. Until lockdown their work was screened regularly at international festivals and in galleries and it’s good to be back.
