Moving Images is entering its second year of showing work the Sioux City
Art Center, a museum located in Sioux City, IA.
This is an on-going program with no specific deadline; please submit works
for the 2008-2009 program that begins this summer.

Submissions are invited from all film and video-makers.

This exhibition will present the only opportunity currently in the Siouxland
area to see work by contemporary film and video makers on an on-going basis.
Works will be shown on a large flat screen monitor set-up in an appropriate
area of the Atrium with benches as seating. This space has high visibility;
it is not an enclosed "black box" space. The program will present the
film/video work of a single artist at a time. Sending older work is
encouraged to provide this audience with an overview of a film/video maker's
work.

Include a synopsis of the film/video(s) submitted, technical details, and a
brief biography if you wish, or a link to your website.
Please submit all work on DVD-NTSC

There is no fee to submit.

Exhibiting artists will be paid a fee for presented works.

What We Are Looking For: We are considering short video, film and
digital-media submissions of 15 minutes or less and are seeking narrative,
artistic, humorous, dramatic, animation, documentary, experimental,
alternative, avant-garde, ambient, music videos, and underground works of
all genres, formats, and styles.

We are primarily interested in innovative artistic presentation and
storytelling.

Experiments in Cinema V3.0 (a Basement Films production) is currently seeking un-embedded, un-dependant film/video work for this annual, Albuquerque based media art festival. Old and new works from around the globe are encouraged for our young but growing event.

Entry deadline: January 15, 2008 (postmark deadline)

Festival dates: April 18-20, 2008

Entry fees:
Entry fees are $15 per entry.  If you are submitting 3 or more works the entry fee is reduced to $10 per work. Entry fees must be in U.S. funds.  Checks or money orders should be made out to Basement Films.  Multiple entries must be submitted on separate discs/tapes.  Artists who have submitted work in past years can waive all entry fees.  Additionally, all international submissions will not pay an entry fee for our festival.

Notes from Experiments in Cinema V 2.0 (2007):
In 2007 Experiments in Cinema screened work drawn from an international call for submissions.  Included our our three day event were works by Daniel Barroca, Brandon Bauer, Susan Blight, Roger Deutch, Courtney Egon, Chris Ernst, Fabienne Gautier, Jason Halprin, Rasmus Hamburg, Janene Higgins,  Jeanne Liotta, Leandro Listorti, Douglas Katelus, Rachel Manera, Patricia McInroy, Chris McNamara, Erik Moskowitz, Ben Popp, Jennifer Proctor, Kenny Reed, Ashley Reese, Ken Paul Rosenthal, Peter Snowden, Ann Steurnagel, Jim Trainor, Niklas Sven Vollmer, Sasha Waters, and Mary Shannon Will. 
Additionally we hosted special presentations from the founders of Home Movie Day and a lecture titled “Secession From the Broadcast” by media scholar Gene Youngblood.

Experiments in Cinema is an annual collaboration between Basement Films, the Department of Cinematic Arts at the University of New Mexico and the Amy Biehl Charter High School in Albuquerque.

The 5th Bangkok Experimental Film Festival, March 2008

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Governments
come and go. So do coups. The West keeps drawing its ‘roadmaps’, but
who’s driving? For some, having no elected government is a terrifying
state of affairs. For others, it’s just business as usual.

Change is not impossible. It’s constant. Nothing is permanent.
Traditional wisdom ? especially in Buddhism ? says that time is
cyclical, a rhythm of renewal and regeneration. But modernity’s clock
is ticking. Its history is linear, irreversible, a path towards a
different future. Will our history be one of progress, or will it be
looped?

Political, social, historical, biological, cosmic? What are the
cycles that give shape to contemporary life? Can art interrupt them, or
should it work with them, go along with them?

The 5th Bangkok Experimental Film Festival is seeking films and
other screen-based work that explores the rhythms and cycles of
contemporary life. All genres and styles will be considered, including
experimental film and video, documentary, art film, animation,
machinima, etc.

Experimental film is not just about technical innovation ? it’s
about new voices and new perspectives. It’s about yesterday and
tomorrow. It can articulate the furtive connections between the
ordinary and the extraordinary, the personal and the public.

BEFF5 is organised by Kick the Machine, Project 304 and the Thai
Film Foundation, and is also supported by Multimedia Arts Asia Pacific.
