  • Cinema De-Centered Conference - Call for Submissions

    As the primary mode of experiencing moving images has drifted from the silver screen to home entertainment and digital devices, cinema’s role in popular culture must be interrogated. Just as the digital age has forced physical film onto the brink of extinction, so too has the movie theater become a place of decreasing significance. Simultaneously, definitions of cinema continue to expand. As disciplines have coalesced around terms like “new media” and “digital media,” the increasing ephemerality of cultural objects in the digital realm should be questioned.

  • The Screening Room: Clive Holden

    Clive Holden is a Canadian new media artist, filmmaker and poet. His best-known and publicized project to date is the award-winning "film poem" series Trains of Winnipeg, a collection of 14 short films featuring Holden's poetry with musical accompaniment by Christine Fellows, John K. Samson, Jason Tait, Steve Bates and Emily Goodden. Nine of these short films we will screen during Cavia's Screening Room on Sunday the 24th of September.

  • The 2018 Film and Video Poetry Symposium Call for Entries

    Submissions are now open for The 2018 Film And Video Poetry Symposium

    Poets, filmmakers, media artists, and digital artists are called to submit their work to the 1st Annual Film and Video Poetry Symposium.

    This film festival and symposium will screen a large scope of film and video projects developed through the medium of poetry.  Eligible submissions have a maximum length of 32 minutes. There are no restrictions regarding when the film was produced or if the film has premiered regionally or internationally. There are no restrictions on subject matter, theme or topic.
