‘I Was a Flawed Modernist’: Collected Writings of and Stories about Paul Sharits – Book Launch

We celebrate the publication of the collected writings by and on the legendary artist filmmaker Paul Sharits with a screening of his films and conversation with the book’s editor Sarah Markgraf.

‘I Was a Flawed Modernist’: Collected Writings of and Stories about Paul Sharits, published by the New York Film Makers Co-operative collects all of Sharits’ published writings plus personal correspondence and reminiscences from colleagues, friends and family including Carolee Schneemann, Robert Longo and Tony Conrad (much previously unpublished) in one definitive volume.

Canyon Cinema 50: Cityscapes with Dominic Angerame

Canyon Cinema 50 programming continues this month with a screening of cityscape films curated by local filmmaker Dominic Angerame. The program, Cityscapes with Dominic Angerame, draws on his longtime history as Executive Director of Canyon Cinema and extensive knowledge of the histories and affinities of experimental film to present an evening of meditations on a diverse array of metropolitan milieux.

UMW Media Wall 2017-2018 Call for submissions

The UMW Media Wall is now accepting submissions for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Wall is a one-of-a-kind moving image exhibition space located in the atrium of the Hurley Convergence Center at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. The Wall is a large scale high definition video canvas composed of 43 separate Prysm Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) tiles arranged into a freeform array that measures 10 feet wide and 12.5 feet tall.

Vórtice 2017: Campo, videos, experimentos

Vórtice es un laboratorio de video experimental dirigido a realizadores interesados en profundizar y expandir sus posibilidades artísticas en el audiovisual. Para esta 3ª versión se han organizado dos encuentros, uno en Colliguay en agosto y otro en Chiloé durante septiembre, donde los participantes tendrán la posibilidad de trabajar en sus proyectos y procesos creativos en un entorno natural, junto a otros destacados artistas y especialistas en esta rama del video.

Transmission International Video Art Festival 2017 - Call for entries

TRANSMISSION ART FESTIVAL 2017 invites everyone to submit videos to the 2nd edition of the Festival, which takes place simultaneously in Karlsruhe (DE), Warsaw (PL) and Kassel (DE) in July 2017. Both established artists and new talents are encouraged to submit works on the theme “We Are All in this Together – A Road Map Through a Post-Truth Art World”.

Submitted works can be up to 15 minutes long and must be produced in 2015 – 2017. There is no entry fee.

Deadline for submission is 15th of June 2017 at 12 a.m. CEST time.
