Para ir más allá de contar historias, los artistas y directores de cine han examinado las condiciones materiales de su medio, tales como la luz, el movimiento, el celuloide y, tras la llegada de la televisión y el vídeo, las señales electrónicas.

IWFF revisited delves into the Festival's archive. A selection of films from the 1970-1980s reveals the premises behind the founding of the Festival. In its early years the Festival was marked by formative convictions and ideas. What types were they? What was to be shown? Why? And who was supposed to see it all?

La edición de este año del (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico llevará por nombre “El jardín secreto” en referencia a la primavera que pasamos confinados y que el festival recupera, llenando de flores y plantas las pantallas de los espectadores. La imagen de la Mostra, que se celebrará del 27 de septiembre al 3 de octubre, remite a esa explosión primaveral, al estar compuesta por multitud de plantas, pétalos y flores.
