    Close Up and Carroll/Fletcher are delighted to present a programme of films by William Raban. Artist filmmaker William Raban was a central figure of the London Film-makers' Co-operative. Initially known for his landscape and expanded cinema works of the 1970s, Raban's films from the 1990s onwards look at the island of Britain and its people, in the context of the global economy and the effects of urban change.

    Walking the line between structure and freedom, this residency is a many headed beast: a biennially rotating film collective on assignment, a performance of place, a cultural mirror, a momentary Narnia, an interventionist, a portal, an international exchange and dialogue, and a discovery of the invisible. The Weight of Mountains residency tailors a space for filmmakers to immerse themselves into remote, overwhelmingly present, or challenging environments world wide to intervene, divert, connect, challenge and enhance their creative practice with fellow contemporaries; bringing together international artists and cross-pollinating film and media with global perspectives.

    'Daniel Barnett es un importante cineasta experimental que despliega complejas metáforas en sus películas realizadas con la refotografía y otras técnicas de post-producción. (…) White Heart es el más largo y ambicioso de sus trabajos. `El film de Barnett consiste en infinidad de imágenes dispares elegidas por su fuerte sensualidad, maridadas con una laberíntica e igualmente sensual banda sonora.Tras establecer las imágenes básicas, Barnett comienza a entremezclarlas, exagerando alguna de sus cualidades (color, textura) durante el proceso de impresión.

    Call out for films and videos submissions for the upcoming 19th edition of Paris Festival for Different and Experimental Cinemas (October 2017). The festival is organised by Collectif Jeune Cinéma every year. CJC - Collectif Jeune Cinéma - was founded in 1971 following the New York Filmmakers's Cooperative footsteps. CJC is a cooperative for distribution with the aim to promote visual and cinematic experimental practices. Along with the organising of regular montly screenings, CJC is also the organiser of the Paris Festival for Different and Experimental Cinéma.

Todas las películas proyectadas en esta sesión tratan la agresión y la brutalidad del propio medio, explorando la violencia de los cuerpos y aludiendo a la destructividad inherente a la máquina cinemática.
