Join Brand New Blinkers for an evening of short films loosely based around the theme of HISTORY.  Films detailing a record of past events, past objects, past lives.

Including (amongst other things): A personal history flashing before our eyes, a group of friends recounting the history of a disastrous trip to Portland, 3000 old photographs showing us life in Beijing, a children’s “take-over” of a geothermal area known as The Devil’s Valley.

Including films by Joseph Bernard, Mikhail Karikis, Lei Lei and Thomas Sauvin, Chris Milk, Greta Snider and many more….

ORACLES: Films by Los Angeles Artists

Messages can be obscure, and this might be the result of place: Los Angeles. Seemingly, there is no rhyme or reason ... or is there? One must look past the surface. This program represents an array of perspectives from Los Angeles area seers. Employing various formal approaches, these films attempt to see beyond face value. At once, these visions are unified by the spirit of experimentation and independent expression that characterizes the alternative cinema in Los Angeles.

Michael A. Morris is an artist and educator based in Dallas, Texas. He works primarily with film, video, and expanded cinematic forms. Much of his recent work responds to the rapid changes in how moving images are created and experienced in the 21st century.

Mary Stark and David Chatton Barker, artists based in Manchester, UK, are visiting Toronto. Please join us for a night of film performance and sonic spells at the one and only CineCycle, the especially specially fantastic cinema venue in Toronto. We'll show individual and collaborative films and performance works made over the last two years, as well as fresh from the processing buckets of this year’s Independent Imaging Retreat, otherwise known as Phil Hoffman’s Film Farm.
