DIM Cinema

DIM Cinema is a monthly series that presents artists whose practices are in dialogue with cinema, as an architectural space, a social context, a medium, or a formal structure.  Its name was inspired by the diffused Vancouver sky, the darkness of the cinema, and a quote by James Broughton from Making Light of It (1992): “Movie images are dim reflections of the beauty and ferocity in mankind”. Amy Kazymerchyk founded and directed the series until 2014, when Michèle Smith took up as Director. DIM is funded by and presented at The Cinematheque in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
