For it's 23nd edition, which will be held March 11 - 31, 2020 in Toulouse, France, Traverse seeks for original experimental art works – experimental cinema, video art, art installations and digital art installations, performancies, photographs – that will constitute a journey across the city of Toulouse, between several venues.
Rainer Kohlberger uses digital-projection technology in a radical way. Through impulses and waves of pure light, the intentional overload of the human perception apparatus leads to visual impressions that appear exclusively in the literal »eye of the beholder«. Layers of noise, drones and stroboscopic lights unfold a sense of the infinite as well as the very now. Image surface and image space meld into one (consciousness-)state, in which categories such as being and non-being, material and immaterial appear obsolete.

As part of its Ukraine focus 2019, the East European Film Bulletin is preparing a special issue on moving-image art, including experimental cinema, video art, and new media.
We are looking for essay-length contributions that should discuss current and past trends of these art forms in Ukraine (or of Ukrainian artists abroad) and/or contributions that focus on the work(s) of a particular artist.
