The Moving Image Salon is a monthly gathering in London for artists working in the fields of moving image and experimental filmmaking. It is intended as a relaxed and open space for conversation and exchange about contemporary moving image practices, a networking event and critical forum.
Working with new definitions of experimental film, writing, and dance from September 20 to September 29, 2018, Counterpath is excited to present year 3 of The Unseen Festival, exploring notions of the resistant, the excluded, and the unacknowledged.
In this collection of recent work by North Carolina artists Sabine Gruffat and Bill Brown, celluloid film serves as both a material register and a critical resource for interrogating the documentary image. Whether using discontinuous montage, handmade techniques, digital processing, or dramatic re-enactments, these experimental films aim to extend the formal possibilities of non-fiction filmmaking, while depicting such iconic subject matter as Confederate monuments, Earthworks, and the great American road trip.
Between May 23rd and May 26th the third edition of the Experimental Film Encounter Fracto is taking place at Kunsthaus ACUD in Berlin-Mitte. The main programme gathers more than 70 film and video works by artists and filmmakers selected from an international open call that has received more than 800 submissions. The selection will be presented in a series of curated programmes. Some of the filmmakers will be present to talk about their work. The screening program will be supplemented by live-performances, workshops and concerts at ACUD Club and Studio.
