where to from here is Moonplay's new podcast series hosted by artist Jes Reyes. Its formation is both a result and a response to postponing our first season of in-person programming due to COVID-19 safety protocols.

The podcast starts with five episodes exploring the artistic backgrounds of Kiera Faber, Andrea Shaker, and Molly Parker Stuart. Topics include filmmaking, artistic process, uncertainty, and life and work during COVID times. Following seasons will feature innovative and experimental visual artists utilizing moving images and film as part of their practice.

Kiera Faber (Luxembourger/American) creates visually complex and richly textured surreal worlds where themes of loss and trauma are explored through enigmatic abstract narratives.  Her films involve extensive drawing, sculpture, and painting for sets, puppet stop motion animations, and other forms of frame-by-frame animation. Faber's work is internationally screened and exhibited at film festivals, galleries, and museums.  In 2018, Faber received a McKnight Fellowship in Media Arts.  She has received numerous regional grants and two film production grants from the Jerome Foundation (2013, 2019). Faber currently is in production on her next animated film, The Garden Sees Fire, supported in part by the Jerome Foundation.

Andrea Shaker grew up in a small town in Connecticut on Quiripi lands. After earning her BA from Georgetown University and MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she moved to Dakota and Anishinaabe lands, where she is a professor of art at the College of St. Benedict | St. John's University. Andrea's creative work is interdisciplinary, spanning photography, moving image, experimental film, and written and spoken word. As an Arab American, she explores the spaces between home & homeland and migration & diaspora. Through image and word, her work addresses how these spaces, and the movement of the body within these spaces, are imagined and experienced through the physiology of intergenerational memory. Her experimental film work has been screened at the Twin Cities Arab Film Festival, Walker Art Center, Altered Esthetics Film Festival, CAVE Film Festival (by the M and Mizna), among other venues.

Molly Parker Stuart is an interdisciplinary artist best known for her work in experimental video. Molly works with and within digital structures to transform artifacts generated by the social structures that affect and are affected by her life. Pieces of a whole are broken down into their constituent parts and used to create video works that speak directly to The body, to convey a whole-body experience of beauty. Her work has been screened locally, nationally, and internationally.
