I am a composer now living in Berlin after 24 years in NYC.
I am looking to write music for a Berlin orchestra for a Spring 2016 performance in one of Berlin's churches that I'm commissioned (no money exchange) to write a piece for.
I envision to find about 3-4 films that come to 30 min in total, possibly by different experimental filmmakers who I could write music for - kind of like a symphony with 3 or 4 movements. The style of music will be influenced by Arvo Part.
Here's a little more about me:
I studied music at the Musikhochschule in Hamburg and have been writing filmmusic since the '90s. The filmmaker, Katja Esson, used one of my ideas for a short doc and, utilizing my music, made it into the Oscar-nominated 2004 'Ferry Tales'.
For a long time, I had an alternative pop band in New York with David Cossin (Bang on a Can Allstars) called b-blush. We often performed while projecting 16 mm films rented from the Donnell Library or to a slideshow where I had burned and scratched slides showing underwater scenes. In 1999, we wrote our first score together for Katja Essons' film 'Vertical Traveler'.
Since then, I have continued to write music for film and to study orchestration at Juilliard where I had my first piece written for orchestra performed a few years ago.

For the film 'About a Girl' (Die Boxerin), I assembled a girls choir which sang my piece 'Feel You' ('Miss You').
