For the first time in Italy, a retrospective dedicated entirely to the cinema of Kenji Onishi, one of the most prolific and established authors of the Japanese underground scene. The screenings of each evening will be held in Parma at the venue @borgosantabrigida5a from 19:00 to 21:30, 100 meters from Piazza Garibaldi.

The program includes a vast roundup of shorts and medium-length films selected from the director's filmography, starting from the so-called avant-garde home-movies made in the first half of the 90s up to the work shot on expired film and self-developed at home following the announcement of the end of production of Fuji Single8 and Kodak cartridges. A feature film from Cinematrain's series of independent productions filmed in Tokyo in the 1990s will also be screened each evening. All works are digital copies courtesy of the director's personal archive, with the support of KEN.

There is also a stand in the hall where DVD copies of films by the Chichibu Avantists group can be purchased.

A unique event that we hope will be accessible to the greatest number of interested and passionate thanks to these three dates. In fact, we hope that this retrospective will above all capture the curiosity of those unfamiliar with this alternative and creative way of making films, surprising them with the unique and personal gaze of underground cinema and of Kenji Onishi.
