    In celebration of Capture Photography Festival 2022, DIM Cinema brings together four extraordinary filmmakers to interrogate the meanings of images drawn by light. Whether translating photographs into time-based media or cutting and pasting found footage, the short films in this program disassemble memories, histories, myths, percepts, and representations, while clearing space for their potential reassembly in altered form. We enter onto a rocky-beach scene staged and photographed by Agnès Varda 30 years earlier.

    Film Talks is an edited collection of unique conversations on experimental cinema from a range of eminent and emerging film and video makers.   • Lis Rhodes: Telling Invents Told

    Telling Invents Told is the first collection of writings by artist and filmmaker Lis Rhodes. It includes the influential essay Whose History? alongside texts from works such as Light Reading, Pictures on Pink Paper and A Cold Draft, together with new and previously unpublished materials. Since the 1970s, Rhodes has been making radical and experimental work that challenges hegemonic narratives and the power structures of language.

  • Shoot Shoot Shoot, London Film-Makers' Co-operative - The First Decade

    The London Film-Makers' Co-operative (LFMC) was founded in October 1966, and soon grew from its beginnings as a film-viewing group to become one of the major centres of a worldwide network of avant-garde film culture. In contrast to similar co-operative endeavours, the LFMC's activity was not limited to distribution – within a few years it was also running a regular program in its own cinema and, most notably, it democratized the means of production by establishing a film workshop that enabled filmmakers to control every stage of the creative process.

    UK publisher The Visible Press has made public a list of their forthcoming publications. Four new books presenting the writings of renowned filmmakers Lis Rhodes, Ken Jacobs and Peter Kubelka, as well as an anthology of articles from the British journal Afterimage.
