Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival

Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival is the flagship event of Alchemy Film & Arts, an organisation based in the Scottish Borders town of Hawick. Alchemy works with artists and communities across local, national and international contexts, using experimental film as a way to come together, have conversations and strengthen community.

Founded in 2010, Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival is the UK's festival of experimental film and artists' moving image. It presents an international programme of up to 100 films each edition over four days of screenings, exhibitions and live performances. It is known for its critically engaged curation, access-led production, political solidarity, and its unique charm, warmth and humour.

In addition to their flagship event, Alchemy deliver an award-winning programme of community filmmaking, skills development and creative learning, which embeds their specialisms of experimental film and community engagement into the very fabric of Hawick and South of Scotland communities; and Scotland's only film-specific residencies programme, supporting the generation of new knowledge through long-form, practice-led research and multidisciplinary partnerships.
