Art made for - and only available on - the peer to peer networks.
The original artwork is first shared by the artist until one other user has downloaded it.
After that the artwork will be available for as long as other users share it.

The original file and all the material used to create it are deleted by the artist.

”There's no original”

”Filter”

A 73 minute experimental non-linear film made by Anders Weberg.

"Filter is fully based on the emotions that I experienced in the beginning of 2006 when I woke up one night and found my son unconscious on the floor.
A couple of minutes passed by until I could bring him back.
The fear and desperation I felt during this time is what the film is all about."

This film and all the files used creating it was deleted 2006/09/15

Thanks for the post, I think this is a really interesting idea.
It is great to see people embracing new technology such as P2P networks in an artistic/conceptual way. I have not downloaded the film yet, but am very interested in what this idea represents and I find it impressive to think that someone has found a way to distribute work in a manor that actually seems to have become an integral part of the piece it's self, rather than (as in most cases) a mere after thought.

Will go and try to find it now + should probably actually watch the thing before I comment further.

Thanks for the post.

The thing that seems the most interesting idea behind this project is that the artist will, in theory, never see their work again. They delete all the files (or burn the film?!?!!) they used to make the piece, release it on bit torrent, and never download it again.

It's a really forward thinking concept, very much like performance art in that the performer can never become the viewer (unlike in painting, illustration, and typical video/film).

Above is a link to a film by Clio Barnard that I very much enjoyed.
It was shot on a mobile phone, and is being distributed through download and through blue tooth technology.
Was also screened at the Tate Britain which is where I saw it, but I think it would actually be better when watched on a mobile phone as it is a kind of intimate, personal meditation and watching on a phone would I think emphasize the sense of personal space and also be truer to the medium that captured the images. Unfortionatly my mobile is about 10years out of date so
I can not watch it this way, but I just thought it was interesting to reference here as it utilizes another progressive distribution method, and is another good example of someone who is exploiting recent technological developments in an artistic way.
