    groop*index is more than happy to present the 2nd edition of the pluridisciplinary festival Ibrida*Pluri, which will be happening at Eastern Bloc (event's co-producer) April 21-22-23 2016.

    Evenings are composed of one screening and three audiovisual performances. For this occasion, the audiovisual performances are going to be the result of new collaborative pieces between sound and visual artists.

    Desde el 20 hasta el 24 de enero, Madrid se convertirá en una plataforma del videoarte y nuevos medios gracias a la Muestra de Arte Digital Audiovisual y Tecnologías Acontemporáneas (MADATAC), que llega este año a su séptima edición con el título de “Arte para un quantum de tiempo”, habiéndose con- vertido en España en un referente de la cultura digital y el arte más experimental.

    MONO NO AWARE's annual exhibition is held to give open forum to work that, because of its transient nature, might not otherwise find a venue in a traditional movie theater, gallery or stage. Inherent in the work is a sense of connectivity and shared viewer experience. The curated program focuses on live projected elements as part of sculpture, installation and performance. This year's edition features expanded cinema, performance, live music, and installation with 15 works by 33 international artists in Brooklyn, NY. See the full programme here.

    Drugs have been used to access the spiritual dimensions of existence in many cultures since the dawn of civilization.  Artists have likewise sought to escape the confines of the rational mind through the use of substances that expand the senses, alter perception, and suspend the repression of the conscious mind. And others, eager to subvert the conventions of a prevailing culture, have hoped to achieve liberation and even Enlightenment by modifying how they thought.  In Vino Veritas: Secrets of the Intoxicated Life will explore the heights and depths of consciousness to reveal truths inaccessible to the sober.

  • L’Âge d’Or 2015

    Belgian experimental film festival L’Âge d’Or comes back next October 3-10 with the second edition of its new run. 2015 celebrates the 50th anniversary of Super 8 and so for its second edition, the Âge d’Or festival has chosen to pay homage to the work of the fiercest advocates of this format, too often denigrated and considered ‘amateur’. A format however that has been, and sometimes still is, the terrain of innovative cinematic experiments, full of the constraints that only it can create.

    Filmadrid International Film Festival (5 al 13 de junio, Madrid) es un festival neonato con la "determinación de descubrir senderos inéditos y novedosos dentro del paisaje cinematográfico contemporáneo". Como tal, en su primerísima edición ya presenta un compromiso muy fuerte con el cine experimental. En su sección competitiva de vanguardia participan dieciocho obras, largos y cortos, con piezas de Basma Alsharif, Laida Lertxundi,  Juan Daniel F. Molero, Pablo Marín y Aura Satz, entre otros. Cuatro 'programas invitados' complementan la sección de vanguardias, con un programa de cortos animados de no ficción comisariado por Elena Duque ('La imagen faltante'); un programa comisariado por Albert Alcoz y Alberto Cabrera Bernal, cineastas y editores del sello de DVD Angular, quienes además presentarán su primer lanzamiento; una sesión dedicada al veterano cineasta Adolpho Arrietta; y una serie de piezas sobre los poeemas del escritor gallego Xosé María Díaz Castro titulado 'Proxecto Nimbos'. La sección Vanguardias Live reta a diversos creadores a realizar obras performativas en nuevas maneras en las que no hayan pensando o trabajado antes; esta edición incluirá performances de Juan Barrero, Lois Patiño y Salomé Lamas.

  • (S8) 6a Mostra de Cinema Periférico

    Jonas Mekas In Kodachrome Days (Ken Jacobs, 2009)

    La eición de este año de la (S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico (3 al 7 de junio, A Coruña) se centra en dos focos principales: de una parte, una retrospectiva dedicada a Ken Jacobs, incluyedo dos performances de su Nervous Magic Lantern y una masterclass; de la otra, el protagonista será el cine de vanguardia brasileño, incluyendo películas clásicas, como Límite de Mario Peixoto u otras de representantes de los movimientos del  Cinema Novo y del Cinema Marginal como Glauber Rocha, Nelson Pereira dos Santos y Rogério Sganzerla. El duo artístico Melissa Dullius y Gustavo Jahn (Distruktur) mostrarán una selecci´pon de su obra así como una tripe performance fílmica utilizando proyectores de 16mm. La sección de vanguardias brasileñas también incluirá trabajos de Duo Strangloscope, Gustavo Beck, Ana Vaz, Helder Martinovsky, Priscyla Bettim y Renato Coelho.
