Analog Cookbook is accepting submissions for issue 4.
Since 2019, Analog Cookbook has featured artists, filmmakers, and photographers working with analog media from all over the world. Deeply inspired by Helen Hill’s Recipes for Disaster, this publication seeks to make the knowledge of working with film more accessible to anyone and everyone who wishes to experiment with celluloid and analog processes in the digital age.
It is both a space to share knowledge and celebrate works on non-digital media through camera guides, developing recipes, artist profiles, Q&As and essays.
Currently seeking:
- Films made on film
- Photography shot on film
- Darkroom recipes. For example: mordançage, phytograms, films processed with plants, beer, etc.
- Artwork about analog filmmaking, or filmmakers who inspire you. For example: issue 1 featured a collage about Carolee Schneemmann.
- Essays about analog films
- Camera guides
For issue 4, we are particularly interested in works responding to the current moment, DIY processes able to be done while quarantining, and how the political climate and pandemic has played a role in your artistic practice. Works outside of these themes will also be accepted.
BIPOC, Womxn, LGBTQIA+, those with a disability, and artists from underrepresented communities encouraged to apply.
