2022 Light Matter Experimental Film and Media Arts Festival November 4-6, 2022

The second annual Light Matter Festival will be held in person in Alfred, NY over the weekend of November 4-6.

Light Matter is an annual festival dedicated to the artists moving image, seeking to bring together works of experimental film, video art, and the media arts. Conventional films need not apply. Preference will be given to shorts, but features will be considered.

As a young festival with limited resources, Light Matter will present approximately four to six programs. Screenings will take place in Holmes Auditorium on the campus of Alfred University. Suitable works will also be selected for an exhibition in the TS1 / Harland Snodgrass Gallery, which features a range of possibilities for multi-channel work.

Rules & Terms

Preview Screeners Entries should be submitted via an online streaming platform (Vimeo, etc.) with password-protected link (if necessary)

Exhibition Formats All selected works will be screened via Digital File (h264 or ProRes preferred).

Authorization By entering the festival, the entrant authorizes a public screening of the work in the festival and agrees to provide an exhibition copy for the period of the festival. If selected, the entrant will be requested to submit images for press use.

Notification All entries will be notified of their selection status in early October.
