Splices for Sharits

A splice joins two pieces of film, leaves a horizontal ‘bar’ across the frame, and is something never seen in the movies. This homage to structural filmmaker, Paul Sharits, was made by constructing and re-photographing thousands of cement splices which were then arranged into four movements.

A print of SPLICES was shown at the 2015 Animator International Festival in Poznan, Poland.

This film has been published as part of the blu-ray Prismatic Music - The Super 8 Films of Joseph Bernard.
