Rrose Present - ODE Europe I, Melilla Beach 2014 or Homage to "La Plage" by Patrick Bokanowski (2014)

In a present drugged by the incessant white noise of the media, the secret mission of the hunter of images is to rescue and reactivate those that appeal to a collective sense of guilt: to return the meaning to that media wallpaper, digging among tranquilizing references, white noise, and other gaze interferences. That is what “ODE Europe” by Rrose Present achieves: tearing the veil that does not allow us to see, behind a series of figures cut out in a landscape, the evidence that, on this side of the border of a first world entrenched with fear, we are probably the dead.

Series: Eyes "without-camera" reinterpret "camera-world"

Concept: In a world full of images, the artist reinterprets the "world-camera" to give another "vision" of what has already been represented. As a Found Footage I experiment with the “noise” of the media that mediates us and interferes with the information.

A journey through sound and image processing alludes to the filmic imaginaries of the cultural construction of Europe. It begins with the sound of an analog film camera which, by slowing down its temporality, approximates the sound of a train, in a nod to the beginning of Lars Von Trier's film “Europa”. The atmospheres of the images and their scenic location refer us to the film "La Plage" by Patrick Bokanowski in his bucolic vision of broken silhouettes in the sea. These Imaginaries contrast with the “visual” content of the moving images taken from the virtual web. That they build a scenography of the bodies that cross the borders of Europe "without permission" (Melilla 2014).

I experiment with the plasticity of the rhythmic interferences that textualize the image, as Found Footage, no longer with the film-matter but with the “noise” of the media that mediates and interferes with the information. Transforming the "objective" gazes of the media into "subjective" author gazes that ironically play with the literal and symbolic "noise" to deconstruct the dictates of the memory of the informational present.
