Sarah Pucill is a british experimental filmmaker and lecturer. She has been making 16mm films for 20 years. Her films have been funded by the Arts Council, London Production Fund, Carlton Television and the AHRC and have been screened at major international film festival. These include: London Film Festival, Oberhausen Short Film Festival, Osnabruck Media Arts Festival and Montreal Festival of New Cinema.

The feelings of sadness, anger, and guilt – in the face of pressure to “move on,” – get imprinted in the body and in one’s interactions with the world.
exf f. – days of experimental film frankfurt is an annual festival dedicated to experimental and avant-garde film in all its diversity, both historical and contemporary. Offering no competition, exf f. is defined by a non-hierarchical understanding of filmmaking and film culture, aiming in particular to showcase film practices that focus on analogue film (be it Super 8, 16mm, 35mm or 70mm).

Limited edition Blu-ray release of Sarah Pucill’s acclaimed artists’ feature film Confessions to the Mirror in which she extends the study she began in her previous film Magic Mirror (2013) responding to Surrealist artist Claude Cahun’s writing and photographs through tableaux vivants that re-stage her images and words.
On July 11th Bristol Cube will screen the final in the BEEF organised Go go go: Women in Experimental Animation series. There's a line up of great films, plus guest speaker Caroline Ruddell, co editor of 'The Crafty Animator: Handmade Craft-based Animation and Cultural Value', will introduce the screening!
The films within this programme deploy modes of humour, irony, absurdity, the grotesque, mystery, beauty and defiance where qualities of shape, colour, texture, light, materiality and movement and questions of process itself are given priority.

This month DIM Cinema arranges a series of studio visits, beginning with Jem Cohen’s short portrait of the sculptor Ann Truitt (1921-2004) and ending with the ceremonial liberation of Jay DeFeo’s painting The White Rose, weighing over 2,300 pounds, from her second-floor studio in San Francisco. In between, and in their respective studios, Sarah Pucill plays with the blinds, Bruce Nauman walks in an exaggerated manner, and Ken Jacobs goes psychological-psychedelic.
After screening her amazing film Magic Mirror in 2013, we are delighted to invite British artist Sarah Pucill to present her latest film for The Dream That Kicks.
Amidst a visual extravaganza of costumes and hand-made sets, Sarah Pucill's new film Confessions to the Mirror takes its title, from the French Surrealist artist, Claude Cahun’s incomplete memoir. Following Cahun’s text, the film includes Cahun’s early and later life and work including her political propaganda activity and imprisonment in Jersey with her partner Suzanne Malherbe during the Nazi occupation of the island.

We're pleased to present a double bill of Sarah Pucill's two feature-length experiments in bringing cinematic life to the photographic and written archive of the French Surrealist Claude Cahun.
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the London Film-makers’ Co-operative (LFMC), this film programme, which opens Tate Modern’s Counter-Histories series, explores the unique contribution of the women filmmakers associated with the LFMC to both experimental and feminist film.
