namaTRE.ba 3 project, Bosnia & Herzegovina
December 17, 11:00-17:00
Curated by Igor Bosnjak

Contemporary art scene (especially video art) in Bosnia & Herzegovina is very interesting because it presents and deals with some issues, problems and relations between the past – in terms of politics, ideology and history – and nowadays, the present. Bosnian video art is represented by three different varieties: firstly, there are works that refer to the recent war and post traumatic elements in society, next, there are works that refer to some universal problems and ideas of media and art, and finally, there are works that refer to questions of personal and social identity. This selection (compilation) of video art is a part of namaTRE.ba 3 video project which is a kind of “other” independent video art scene inside Bosnia & Herzegovina which represents (un)institutional art. Those works that are trying to open the problems and questions of memory have been influenced by war and post war atmosphere, whereas those works that refer to collective identities and ontological problems have been influenced by artistic and personal trauma. This compilation is trying eclectically to connect some works that cannot refer together as a similar concept. Instead of some kind of curatorial concept, I can offer some meanings and zeitgeist which can be valuable as a work of art or political situation in a very complicated country such as Bosnia.

Body/Identity Politics and the Representation of Power, Serbia
December 28, 11:00-17:00
Curated by Bojana Romic

This video selection is focused on the questions related to the body/identity politics ant its relation to the representation of power – eight artists gave its contribution to the questions raised: what is the status of the „body image“ in the mediasphere? How the posthuman spectacle is constituted, and how it affests the human gaze? Do visual technologies have the attempt to anatomise the body, producing it into the anatomical theatre (Foucault) – the same way that representation of political power is turned into the brutal cinema, visualised pathology? Through the later process of framing, bits and pieces of the original narratives are being juxtaposed, creating a new field of representation, images of traces. As Martin Heidegger wrote: „...world picture...does not mean a picture of the world, but the world concieved and grasped as picture.“ (Martin Heidegger, „The Age of the World Picture“, 1938)

CologneOFF IV - Here We Are!
Special selection for Oslo by Wilfried Agricola de Cologne

Here We are! – this is a statement of self-confidence, that tells the people: Look, that’s the way we are, and we are proud of it!

But that is not done from a position of overestimating oneself, rather from a critical point of view, critical on oneself and the environment, the social, political, cultural and personal conditions the authors are living in. Each selected video does it in a very individual way. The authors found their personal language of using the medium of the moving pictures based on the characteristics of a typical mentality, identity and humour. EAST meets WEST, philosophy meets pragmatism. The videos appear as colourful as the world is they are representing. Here We Are!The selected artists keep all rights of their videos
