Lux has published two new DVDs of british experimental cinema:


Novaczek DVD- Ruth Novaczek Selected Film and Video 1990-2005  is a 2 disc set with the major films by filmmaker and painter Ruth Novaczek. The first disc centers on her earlier works, dealing 'primarily with notions of identity, often with an ironic or comic angle'; the second disc, containing her later works, 'experiments with abstraction and poetic subjects, employing catchphrase and metaphor, music and rhythm'. The films included in this compilation are Rootless Cosmopolitans (1990), Cheap Philosophy (1992), Cactus Babylon (1996), Talk Israel (1992-2002), 50 50 (1998), Drive She Said (1998), Easy Listening (2002), Trilogy (2001), Series One and Two (1999), Episode (2003) and Sense (2004). DVD PAL, 2 discs, region free, £25.

Shoot Shoot Shoot
- Shoot Shoot Shoot: The London Film-Makers Co-op & British Avant-Garde Film of the 1960s & 1970s is a co-release between Lux and Re:voir. Shoot shoot shoot is a programme curated by Mark Webber,
that compiles 13 films made by members of the London Film-Makers’
Co-operative from the 1960s and 70s. The DVD is acompanied by a
bilingual booklet written by Webber and foreword by A.L.Rees (A History of Experimental Film and Video).  The selection includes At The Academy (Guy Sherwin 1974), Little Dog For Roger (Malcolm Le Grice 1967), Shepherd’s Bush (Mike Leggett 1971), Hall (Peter Gidal 1968-69), Dirty (Stephen Dwoskin 1965-67), Marvo Movie (Jeff Keen 1967), Broadwalk (William Raban 1972), Fforest Bay II (Chris Welsby 1973), Slides (Annabel Nicolson 1970), Film No. 1 (David Crosswaite 1971), Dresden Dynamo (Lis Rhodes 1971), Footsteps (Marilyn Halford 1974), Leading Light (John Smith 1975).DVD PAL, 1 disc + booklet, 120 min., region free, £19,95.

Brothers Quay
The British Film Institute has collaborated with the Brothers Quay to produce a comprehensive edition of their short films. Quay Brothers - The Short Films 1979-2003 is
a 2 disc set containing 13 short films, in restored and re-mastered
versions with lots of extras, including exclusive interviews and
commentaries, alternative versions and some never-completed projects.
The shorts incldued are The Cabinet of Jan Švankmajer (1984), This Unnameable Little Broom (1985), Street of Crocodiles (1986), Rehearsals for Extinct Anatomies (1987), Stille Nacht I - Dramolet (1988), The Comb (1990), Anamorphosis (1991), Stille Nacht II - Are We Still Married? (1992), Stille Nacht III - Tales From Vienna Woods (1993), Stille Nacht IV - Can't Go Wrong Without You (1994), In Absentia (2000), The Phantom Museum (2003) and The Summit (1995).
