Engauge was founded to highlight and augment the Lightpress Grants. Offered twice yearly by our primary sponsor, the Interbay Cinema Society, Lightpress Grants help filmmakers with the funding to professionally digitize their films.     In this collection of recent work by North Carolina artists Sabine Gruffat and Bill Brown, celluloid film serves as both a material register and a critical resource for interrogating the documentary image. Whether using discontinuous montage, handmade techniques, digital processing, or dramatic re-enactments, these experimental films aim to extend the formal possibilities of non-fiction filmmaking, while depicting such iconic subject matter as Confederate monuments, Earthworks, and the great American road trip.

  • Fracto Experimental Film Encounter 2019

    Between May 23rd and May 26th the third edition of the Experimental Film Encounter Fracto is taking place at Kunsthaus ACUD in Berlin-Mitte. The main programme gathers more than 70 film and video works by artists and filmmakers selected from an international open call that has received more than 800 submissions. The selection will be presented in a series of curated programmes. Some of the filmmakers will be present to talk about their work. The screening program will be supplemented by live-performances, workshops and concerts at ACUD Club and Studio.
