Chicago Film Archives Media Mixer 2023

Every year, Chicago Film Archives matches 3 local video artists with 3 local audio artists or musicians. Each pair is tasked with creating a new work made by remixing footage from CFA's collections. Their creations will premiere at the Media Mixer with live musical performances and artists in person!

For the instant glance and seasonal view: Recent films of Chris H. Lynn and workshop

Chris H Lynn will present 3 new super 8 films from the Journal of Drifting Hours Series and selections of his most recent work-A Season Close to Mountains and Atlantic Views.

He will lead a workshop on various methods of audiovisual recording while in the field. Participants will also be invited to develop their own ideas and share their creative process.

Moinho Cine Fest

The 6th edition of Moinho Cine Fest will take place in April 2024 in Custóias, Leça do Balio and Guifões, Matosinhos, Portugal. You can submit youts medium, short, micro and/or nano film produced from January 2022 (inclusive) through FilmFreeway until December 31.

Note: Accepts films submitted in previous editions but which were not selected and that comply with all the requirements of the current edition's regulations.

Bucharest International Dance Film Festival 2023 - Open Call

Submissions for the 9th edition of the Bucharest International Dance Film Festival are now open! Filmmakers, dance artists, animators, visual artists and digital art makers are invited to submit their works for the International and Romanian Short Film Competitions of the festival that will take place between September 7 – 10, 2023, under the theme of “clusters”.

Video Art Miden: True Lies & Shhhhh…

In a two-day screening event, Video Art Miden presents 2 video art sections at ToPikap in Thessaloniki (GR): “True lies” curated by Nikos Podias on Friday, June 2 and “Shhhhh… #1” curated by Martha Zoupa on Saturday, June 3, 2023.

The videos have been selected from the recent international open call of Video Art Miden and include works by artists from 15 countries.

Born in Armenia in 1938 and trained at VGIK in the 1960s, Artavazd Peleshian has lived through the entire postwar Soviet period and its aftermath. Revered by filmmakers as an authentic genius of the seventh art and referenced in its histories as a “missing link” connecting the legacy of Soviet montage with more modern uses of the technique, Peleshian rests his reputation on 12 short films made between 1964 and 1993.
