Continuing the presentation of video art online during the coronavirus lockdown, Video Art Miden uploads 3 new video art programs on Miden youtube channel during May, introducing new selections from its recent international open call. The online screenings aim to continue the communication between artists and the audience and to maintain an energetic international discourse through art, in the middle of a crisis which, while isolating us, it also unites us on an international level.

On April 10th, we received the devastating news of the passing of Bruce Baillie. Baillie was the founder of Canyon Cinema, and co-founder of the San Francisco Cinematheque, alongside Chick Strand, whose film work was highly influential on his own.

The new episode of experimental film podcast Into the Mothlight features an interview with Scottish artist filmmakers Mark Lyken and Emma Dove. They discuss their work, approach to collaboration, the importance of immersing themselves in the place they are filming and their new project 1300 Shots. Microscope is very pleased to present an online screening of video works by Boston-based artist Magda Fernandez.
The program includes a selection of 13 short videos made by Fernandez between 2006 and 2020 offering a comprehensive look into her videography. In these works, often conceptual and resting on her reflections on her own identity as a Cuban-American, the artist performs in various disguises and roles against moving-image backdrops of original or found footage.
