    How do you show love in a movie? Who is your audience? Why do you think you can use archives? Will there be a song in your movie? Why is there so much fear and what can you do about it?

    During the workshop ARCHIVAL LANDSCAPES that took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and online throughout 2023 we collected personal stories and family histories, sounds and images and created films using the method of found footage.

  • Something Spilled

    Film manipulates textures of the ordinary, and magic is conjured in its folds. The shorts in Something Spilled study the cracks where imaginary leaks into real: questions of memory, certainty, and liminality arise. Curated by Emma Dollery and Mary Rose McClain, the program features 8 films by an eclectic group of local and international filmmakers whose take on the theme, differing widely in aesthetic mode, is a testament to an abundance of mysterious callings.

  • Anto(n) Astudillo: To become the person I have always been

    Microscope is very pleased to present a solo screening of film and video works by New York-based artist Anto(n) Astudillo. The screening will take place both in person and online, with a Q&A with the artist following the screening.

    In the seven works on the program, Astudillo considers the effects of two concurrent personal transitions: the gender affirming process of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and their experience as a US immigrant from Chile during the past twelve years.
