OPEN SUBMISSIONS OPPORTUNITY

CUBEOpen 2011 submissions
4 October 2011 - 4 November 2011
CUBEOpen 2011
The University of Salford and CUBE gallery is delighted to be announcing its annual CUBEOpen 2011.
CUBEOpen 2011 is the UK's only annual open competition and exhibition of its kind! Launched in 2007, artists, architects and designers are invited to apply with work that reflects current trends and debates surrounding the spaces and places in which we live, each year the exhibition highlights contemporary insights into the urban environment.
Past highlights have included a Fox Training Tower, mobile architecture models, direct interventions in the gallery space and a swimming pool!
Leading national newspaper the Guardian praised the Open competition as "One of the coolest and classiest galleries around. CUBE continue to stage exhibitions that cover our cities' cultural intermix of fine art, architecture, interior design and contextual theory. While this might sound a bit over-chic and academically dry, in fact CUBE shows tend to be an aesthetic and intellectual delight. CUBEOpen is no exception"
Deadline for entries: 5pm Friday, 4th November 2011 CUBE open exhibition: 8th December 2011 – February 2012
The most outstanding project will be offered a residency as part of CUBELab 2012 — two runners up will be given honorable mentions. The shortlisted entries will form part of an exhibition at CUBE later this year.
