Film artist Hangjun Lee treats us to a collection of Asian experimental short films from Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, all shown on 16mm film.

The late Japanese moving image artist rebel whose dynamic potential was cut short by his premature death (1975-2012). For over two decades he created a hair-raising body of aggressively beautiful films and videos. His distinctive, psychically charged work revels in optic and aural jolts just as much as it attempts a sincere connection with the viewer. His primary technique involved heavy amounts of re-photography, a process that allowed him to fashion multiple electrified layers of strobing imagery. - Anthology Film Archives

A meditative train journey into time, embodied by exquisite light and unexpected motion. Intrude Sanctuary has screened internationally at Rotterdam International Film Festival, Pacific Film Archive, San Francisco Cinematheque, and Toronto International Film Festival.

Hangjun Lee is a filmmaker and live film artist often performing in combination with various musicians. He is also programmer for the EXiS Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul and an independent curator specialising in Asian experimental media. He recently curated the opening screening program and performance festival for the National Museum of Modern & Contemporary Arts in Seoul (MMCA Seoul). His recent works are distributed by Light Cone in France.
