Auguries for a Non-Hierarchical Framing and Flourishing pieces together traces of a series of communal experiments undertaken by the anarchist António Gonçalves Correia in southern Portugal: Comuna da Luz (The Commune of Light), in Vale de Santiago/Odemira (1917-18) and Comuna Clarão (The Blaze Commune) in Albarraque/Sintra (1926). The filmmaker writes, “Choral and in the making, the film is a tool for conviviality; it folds and unfolds in bewilderment, guided by the fulgor, or the potential for flourishing in non-hierarchical frames.”

Sílvia das Fadas is an artist-filmmaker, convivial researcher, and educator based in southernPortugal. She holds an MFA in Film and Video from CalArts (USA), was a cooperation fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude (Germany, 2019), and a visiting fellow at the Center for Place, Culture and Politics – The Graduate Center, CUNY (2020). She is currently a PhD-in-Practicecandidate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, supported by a FCT scholarship; and the curatorof CINEMA FULGOR, a cinema with mobile roots that participates in the construction of a living and autonomous rurality.
