FLEX Fest 2015 is now accepting entries for the 11th Annual Florida Experimental Film/Video Festival to be held February, 2015 in Gainesville, FL. Exact dates and Jurors to be announced soon.
Regular Entry Deadline: September 25, 2014 (postmarked)
Late Entry Deadline: October 25, 2014 (postmarked)
What is experimental?
FLEX doesn’t want to know in advance what experimental means. We’re interested in work that challenges generic designations (including the traditional “avant-garde” or “underground” ones). Work may also draw on documentary, narrative, animation or any other tradition – or no tradition at all. So, what is experimental? We’re hoping to be surprised by your answer.
Productions completed since the deadline for the last competitive FLEX festival (September 15, 2012) are eligible. Films or videos made for commercial or industrial purposes are not eligible. All entries in a language other than English must be subtitled or dubbed in English unless dialogue is inessential to comprehension and appreciation. Maximum running time is 30 minutes.
The festival is designed to have no regard for the traditional generic categories (narrative, documentary, animation, experimental). The categories instead will be determined solely based on length: (small [ shorter than 10 minutes] large [>10 minutes]) and format (film/video). The works will be classified as film or video depending on what format they will screen on at the festival.

Entry fees will be $20.00 per work submitted for Domestic (USA) entrants received after September 25, 2014. After submitting you will be rerouted to Paypal payment link. Please do not send films for pre-screening.
For the festival, work can be screened super 8mm, 16mm, miniDV or DVCam (NTSC or Pal), HDV (mini-cassettes only) or Quicktime Files. Unfortunately we no longer have the ability to screen 35mm.

Entrants will be notified of their entry status in December.
Cash and in-kind awards will be given in each of the four categories.
