The 2018 edition of Courtisane Festival (March 28th-April 1st Ghent. Belgium) will fature two prominent figures such as documentary filmmakers Wang Bing and Annik Leroy as its artists in focus. As in previous editions, Leroy's programme will present her work in play with work by other filmmakers (Barbara Loden & Artavazd Pelechian).
The Selection strand will feature the latest works by Belgian and international artists, such as Robert Beavers, Morgan Fisher, Ute Aurand, Diego Marcon, Anja Dornieden & Juan David Gonzalez Monroy, Isabelle Tollenaere, Ruben Desiere or the recent restoration of James Benning's 11x14. Monographic programmes will also be dedicated to the work of Mónica Savirón, Ephraim Asili's Diaspora Suite (with a performance by Joe McPhee) and Shambhavi Kaul, and a retrospective of Mike Henderson's films, recently restored by the Academy Film Archive.
Legendary Indian Filmmaker Mani Kaul will be the protagonist of the programme 'Soft Notes on a Sharp Scale', featuring some of his feature and documentary works in play with others by Robert Bresson, Ritwik Ghatak or Gurvinder Singh.
