  • Transfera TV #40: Encyclopedic Cartoons Video Project

    Axiom (Sally Grizzell Larson, 2010)This Friday, December 16th at 21:00 PM and Saturday 17 at 09:00 AM  Transfera,  a tv space that broadcasts from Madrid by Canal Autor (Orange), offers a one hour special programme featuring the Encyclopedic Cartoons Video Project.

    Based on the structure of the reference book encyclopedia of the 18th century, Encyclopedic Cartoons Video Project is an ongoing enterprise curated by Joas Sebastián Nebe, with 36 video art pieces by 14 participating artists from 10 countries and 4 continents,  that presents an item for every letter of the alphabet,  and a film to every item.  Different artists created the films, which last from a few seconds to four minutes.

  • Australian International Experimental Film Festival

    Law and Order Study (Charles Chadwick, 2008)The 2010 edition of the Australian International Experimental Film Festival will take place in Melbourne, Australia, the weekend of 30th April – 2nd May. This festival, the brainchild of filmmakers sue.k., Richard Tuohy and Diana Barrie, will offer four programmes comprising over thirty experimental films and videos from all over the world, and a projected installation by Steve Hawley, Clockwork Melodrama (2010), screening each night of the festival for sidewalk view. Recent works by Thorsten Fleisch, Roger Deutsch, Nicky Hamlyn, Steven Ball, Jayne Parker and Carolee Schneemann among many others.

    One Minute Volume 4
    the fourth in the series of artists' moving image curated by Kerry Baldry

    will preview on Thursday 6th May at Moors Bar, Crouch End, 57 Park Road, Crouch End, London, N8 8SY on Thursday 6th May from 6.30 – 8.30pm.
    It will also continuously screen Saturday and Sunday (8th and 9th) 11am - 9pm as part of the Crouch End Open studios weekend.

    One Minute Volume 4, a programme of artists' moving image, features over 30 artists and includes an eclectic range of techniques, media, processes including stop frame, video, film, Super8 and 16mm, split screen, superimposition, animation, digital and live action. All with one thing in common - the restriction of working within the time limit of 1 minute.

  • American Falls: Phil Solomon

    American Falls (Phil Solomon, 2010)Last Saturday April 10 was the opening of American Falls, a six-channel multimedia installation by Phil Solomon specially commisioned by the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Curated by Paul Roth, the installation is on view in conjunction with the retrospective Helios: Eadweard Muybridge in a Time of Change.

    Inspired by Frederic Edwin Church’s painting Niagara (1857) and Washington’s monumental war memorials, Solomon's installation 'explores the aspirations and struggles that lie at the heart of the American Dream', using images from Hollywood cinema, found footage, and documentary accounts of historical events.

    American Falls: Phil Solomon will be open until July 18th.
