    Curated by Federico Rossin.

    July 30, 17h - Cinematheque 4
Experimental Poland #1 – The Vanished World

This program tries to offer a possible and humble solution to a fundamental dilemma of our times, the one between representation and its limits. How can we represent the Shoah and how can we portray the vanished Jewish world of Poland, if we must compare Auschwitz to “an earthquake [that] destroys not only lives, buildings, and objects but also the instruments used to measure earthquakes directly or indirectly (Lyotard)”?

  • In the Inner Space

    By on

Every man remembers the first words of Neil Armstrong after stepping on the lunar surface, on July 20, 1969. Few remember, instead, those of his partner Buzz Aldrin: "Magnificent view. Magnificent desolation. " What did Aldrin see, where are these images, what was that desolation like? When it is 50 years since the Apollo 11 moon landing, Cineteca revisits the crossed paths of cinema, science and lunar exploration, and goes through the images with which cinema dreamed of the moon and outer space.
