Submissions are currently being sought for Altered States, an immersive exhibition of visionary experimental film and artists' film and video work at the Electro Studios Project Space in St. Leonards-on-Sea, U.K. The exhibition will form part of the Coastal Currents Arts Festival, which takes place between the 28th of August and the 13th September 2015.

In curating this programme we are searching for works that articulate film's power to initiate or approximate heightened states of consciousness, transporting us across the threshold into a dream-state. We are looking for works that imaginatively reshape the base materials of the everyday world into something rich and strange. Applicants are encouraged to interpret this broad theme as freely as they like.

While there are no restrictions on date of production or premiere status we are keen to include new and unseen works in the programme. Films should ideally be 10 minutes or under although some exceptions may be made. Applicants are free to submit as many pieces of work as they like.

Submissions are requested via e-mail, with applicants sending links to work posted on video sharing platforms like vimeo or youtube (please ensure the password is included if required). Quicktime files can be submitted via wetransfer, just include the download link in your submission e-mail. Please include a short synopsis or statement on the work, along with a list the film's prior screenings. Applicants are also welcome to include any additional supporting material deemed relevant.

The submission deadline is: July 13, 2015.

Please send your submission information to: [email protected].

Altered States is being curated by Toby Tatum & Mark French for the Coastal Currents Arts Festival 2015. More information about the Electro Studios Project Space and the Coastal Currents Arts Festival can be found here:
