    With two successful years behind and more than 3000 student films submitted from around the world, STIFF opens its submissions window for its 3rd edition.This year we are focusing on documentaries and therefore we are leaving the early bird deadline for submission of the category of documentaries free of charge. Another news are two out of competition categories in which students can apply with experimental film and art video of up to 25 min in length and unrestricted in the year of production.

  • ARKIPEL Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival 2016

    The word ARKIPEL was taken from ‘archipelago’ which refers to a term in Indonesian language ‘nusantara’. The word was known since the early 16th century. Nusantara is a group of thousand of islands keeping long globalization history of politics, cultural, and economics. More than 500 years ago, this region has become one of main destinations for Western explorer whom tried to find new areas to be colonized or as trading partner. Besides the European, there were also people came from the East (China, Arab, and India) which made this Nusantara region as an exploration destination in their trading missions of spices and silk. ARKIPEL International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival was initiated by Forum Lenteng to read a global phenomenon in social, political, economic and culture contexts through cinema. Of cinema, it is expected to capture the global society phenomenon, both in terms of aesthetic and socio-political context through the language of documentary and experimental filmmaking.

  • Anywhere but here Call for Submissions

    Black Light Film and Video Series is currently seeking submissions for the upcoming Anywhere but here film screening on March 28th, 2016. 

    We are looking for short films/videos (under 20 mins) that explore a specific space. This space can be explored directly or indirectly, traditionally or experimentally, within the film or video. The space (or spaces) must be central to the theme (or themes) of the work. Fiction and non-fiction work will be considered. We can accommodate 16mm, Super 8mm, 8mm, VHS, and digital files.

  • Open call for 3rd International Festival of Experimental Video “Proceso de Error”

    The Festival “Proceso de Error”, organized by INVE - Experimental Platform for Arts, has established itself as an unique event in Chile that promotes research, production and dissemination of experimental video internationally. In its third edition, the contest not only opens its call for videos to display at the show, but also for performances and exhibitions to be held prior to the event, to be held in Valparaíso from 31 May to 4 June 2016.

  • Last Call for Submissions: Black Box @ Edinburgh International Film Festival

    Last Call for Submissions for the 70th Edition of the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

    EIFF are still inviting experimental submissions for the Black Box strand, now in its 14th year. We accept short to medium length work on any format and particularly welcome films on 16mm or 35mm.

    Black Box is a distinctive section within the festival, which presents a diverse spectrum of experimental work from around the world. It is committed to supporting photochemical film and artisanal practice as well as innovations in the digital medium.

  • 18th edition of the Paris Festival Of Different & Experimental Cinemas

    Call out for films and videos submissions for the upcoming 18th edition of Paris Festival for Different and Experimental Cinemas. The festival is organised by Collectif Jeune Cinéma every year. CJC - Collectif Jeune Cinéma - was founded in 1971 following the New York Filmmakers's Cooperative footsteps. CJC is a cooperative for distribution with the aim to promote visual and cinematic experimental practices. Along with the organising of regular montly screenings, CJC is also the organiser of the Paris Festival for Different and Experimental Cinéma. Today, CJC's catalogue includes more than 1200 films from more than 300 filmmakers.

  • LGBTIQ Experimental Cinema - Call for entries

    For the second year, the Collectif Jeune Cinéma calls for media-based works from LGBTIQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Intersex and Queer) filmmakers. It concerns all filmmakers who invoke and/or defy these identities in demand of a fresh and original view of the world and that seek a unique language through formal, narrative and poetic experimentation.

    The works we are looking for are produced by imaginaries freed from all codes prescribed by dominant heteronormative culture. They should be exciting, inspirational and political all at the same time. They should take and give pleasure, upset, transform and emerge as spaces of freedom for both body and mind.

  • The Wall: Open Submissions

    The Wall presents monthly shows of digital art, moving image, video, and new media work in Oakland. In addition, we work with artists in the Bay Area and beyond to commission new work, present special events, and are piloting a teaching artist-in-residence program in local schools.

    The Wall is accepting submissions for our 2016-2017 season through February 15, 2016. Submit proposals, specific work, and projects of digital art, moving image, video, and new media work to be screened on our 100x100 foot urban projection space in Downtown Oakland. We’re particularly interested in site-specific installations that engage with the physical space of the projection, and the building’s location in the public streets of Oakland. This year, we’re also programming a number of off-site projects that engage with other spaces throughout Oakland and proposals for self-contained pieces that could be exhibited elsewhere.

    The International Video Art House Madrid Festival is held every year in Madrid with the aim of bringing new proposals of national and international artists to the public. Since its inception it has featured a guest country section where different curators from that country are invited to present a retrospective on it. Until the last edition of 2015 we had the participation of Colombia, Israel, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, South Korea, Mexico, Italy and Russia. We are only selecting works made in 2015 or 2016.

  • Call for films - Nantes Film labs meeting

    From July 4th to 10th, 2016 in Nantes, France, the association MIRE will organize the next Independent Film Labs Meeting. In the recent history of artist run film labs’ there have been several meetings that have contributed to the reinforcement and expansion of the network. Mire wants to continue this “tradition” by hosting an event, which will combine practical hands on workshops and discussion as well as a series of public screenings of work produced by independent and artist run labs.
